The grandmaster of Seni Silat Haqq Melayu, and chief of Silat Gayong Europe, Ariffin Yeop is a world renowned martial artist.
His passion for martial arts was first inspired at the tender age of 8, when he began training in the school of Silat Gayong under the late Mahaguru Dato' Meor Abdur Rahman.
Once grounded in the fundamentals, he continued his training under various teachers appointed by his father, the legendary Singa Malaya (Lion of Malaya), Dato' Yeop Mahidin M.B.E.(1918 - 1999), and on the authority of Pendekar Dato' Pawang Noh M.B.E.(1874 - 1977)
He also studied other traditional martial arts - Shaolin Kung Fu and Karate - but his passion remained with Silat.
He began teaching silat in 1979. When he moved to London in 1991, he founded his own school, Seni Silat Haqq Melayu.
With over 30 years experience in teaching Silat Melayu to a diverse range of people, Ariffin has also been involved in working with 'hard to reach' and disadvantaged individuals and groups, where using the medium of Silat he is able to instill discipline and moral values.
